Funerals & Memorials in Nanaimo & the Vancouver Island Area

Sometimes we don't bloom for long, but that doesn't mean that the beauty of that life can't still shine though.
Your loved one has passed and you know you want to have a service. Should it be a funeral, should it be a life celebration, should it be a remembrance tea?
Sometimes it's hard to know which choice to make. Often the person who has passed has insisted on no service at all. But, the service is not for the deceased as much as it is for the living and most people need some kind of service for closure. Often the person who passed away has not wanted a service for economic reasons or sometimes because they have an idea of “What if I gave a party and nobody came”.
Please don't let those ideas stop you from doing what you want and need to do. Feel free to call me with no obligation to discuss what we can do.
If the service is to be an anniversary of death service we will have lots of time to plan your event, however, for a funeral we often only have about 72 hours to complete the plans. I will come to meet you, we will discuss what is to be said, what is to be taken to the funeral site, who will speak, what we will use for music and readings. If you are not close, we will use the telephone, email, and Skype to communicate. I will write a service from beginning to end and send it to you for your approval. Time is often of the essence with these situations and I promise to give you that time.

What is a "pre-need service"?
Sometimes, a service is requested on behalf of a friend or family member who is experiencing their last days and would like to have a chance to say goodbye to their loved ones. Some of the most touching of ceremonies are bedside with the person who is passing, and can give everyone a chance to say their goodbyes. If that is what your loved one wants I will be happy to help you through this.
What if my loved one has passed by their own hand?
More than ever, the friends and family of a loved one who passes away by their own hand need to have a ceremony to get together and remember that person's life. We can craft this event together so that it reflects what the friends and family need at this time, let me help you.
Funeral services for furry family members

Pets are family too!
While some people scoff at the idea of a pet being a real part of the family, those of us who have these furry companions know better. When a dog or cat has been such an important part of your family for 10 or 20 years, their death is just as painful as that of a human companion.
I would be honoured to help you through your time of grief by crafting a memorial service for this life event.
